Crassula exilis is a dwarf cushion forming perennial succulent up to 100 mm high when  flowering with spirally arranged rosettes and rather narrow, acute leaves. The leaves are quite variable in size and appearance. The species is distinguished by its fruits: mature follicles spreading at right angles to the axis. Its distribution is limited to Graaff-Reinet and Aliwal North.
