Gasteria is a genus of succulent plants native to South Africa. The name of the genus derives from the Latin word for “stomach”, and refers to the shape of the flower.
Gasteraloe (also known as x Gastrolea) is a category of hybrid plants, from mixtures of species from the Aloe and Gasteria genera. Gasteraloe hybrids are typically stemless or almost stemless. Their succulent leaves, which are usually spotted or marked and have toothed margins, form rosettes.
