Aloe longistyla , a dwarf aloe with very small rosettes is found in the summer rainfall areas of the Little Karoo and in the Great Karoo from Calitsdorp to near Grahamstown, extending to Graaff-Reinet and Cradock and Middelburg. Aloe longistyla is stated as vulnerable. It flowers from July to August and in relation with the small rosettes, has exceptionally large flowers. It is a very tough little plant which can withstand several years of drought. It is a challenge to successfully grow these little aloes , and is therefore sought after by the enthusiast.
